Abstract

Background: Elderly (elderly) is a condition that occurs in human life with the aging process occurring throughout life which does not only start at a certain time but begins at the beginning of life. Elderly is a continuation stage of adulthood which is characterized by experiencing physical, psychological and social interaction decline little by little until they are no longer able to carry out daily activities. Objective: To determine factors related to the quality of life of elderly people in Karangasem Village. Method: This research uses a quantitative research design using a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 120 elderly respondents in Karangasem Village. The independent variables in this research are physical factors, psychological factors (depression, anxiety, stress), social and environmental factors, while the dependent variable is the quality of life of the elderly. Sampling used total sampling technique. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis using the Sperm Rank test while data collection used the Physical Activities Scale for the Elderly (PASE) questionnaire. The Physical Activities Scale for Elderly (PASE) is a questionnaire to assess the physical activity of elderly people. Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS 42) questionnaire to measure psychological factors, Dass 42 Questionnaire (severe level) core symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. Adapted Australian Community Participation Questionnaire (ACPQ) questionnaire to analyze the level of social participation of the elderly, WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF) is a questionnaire to measure the quality of life of the elderly. Results: The results of the study show that there is a relationship between physical factors and the quality of life of the elderly with a value (p) of 0.000, and an R value = 0.314. The relationship between psychological factors (depression) and the quality of life of the elderly with a value (p) of 0.708 and an R value = 0.035. Which means there is no relationship between psychological factors (depression) and the quality of life of the elderly. There is a relationship between psychological factors (anxiety) and the quality of life of the elderly with a value (p) of 0.000) and an R value = 0.381. There is a relationship between psychological factors (stress) and the quality of life of the elderly with a value (p) of 0.044 and an R value = 0.195. There is no relationship between social and environmental factors and the quality of life of the elderly, marked by a value (p) of 0.231 and a value of R = 0.110. Conclusion: physical factors, psychological factors (anxiety and stress) are related to the quality of life of the elderly in Karangasem Village, while psychological factors (depression) are not related to the quality of life of the elderly in Karangansem Village.
