Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of Arabic learning methods in the Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Islam, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The background of this research is that Arabic is not only used as a means of communication, but also as a medium identity in learning Arabic. Arabic language education is one of the important lessons in learning Arabic, so that mastery of Arabic needs to be a requirement for Islamic Religious Educators. The method used in this research is to use a descriptive approach. Data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the dominant learning method used by Arabic Language Learning Lecturers is the discussion method. this is due to the varied educational backgrounds of students, including from Islamic Boarding Schools and Public Schools which create their own challenges in the learning process. The discussion method is expected to overcome this problem by allowing students to learn in groups.This study also identified several obstacles in learning Arabic. Internal constraints include lack of motivation and students' shyness in using Arabic.
