Abstract
complex chronic autoimmune disease. This disease can affect various organs of the body and significantly impact the quality of life of those affected. Individuals living with Lupus, often referred to as ODAPUS (People with Lupus), face a variety of challenges. These challenges include a prolonged diagnostic process and the social stigma attached to the disease. Such challenges can negatively affect their mental health and resilience, making it essential to understand the factors influencing the well-being of ODAPUS in the Solo Raya region. The main hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a significant relationship between optimism and social support with resilience. Additionally, the supplementary hypotheses state that (1) optimism positively influences resilience, and (2) social support also contributes positively to resilience. The method applied in this research is a correlational quantitative approach, with a population consisting of ODAPUS in Solo Raya. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling, involving 231 respondents. Data were collected through an online questionnaire that included scales for optimism, social support, and resilience, with data analysis conducted using multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis indicate that (a) there is a strong and significant relationship between social support and optimism with resilience, with an F value of 127.822 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.01), indicating that both variables contribute significantly to the resilience of ODAPUS. (b) Specifically, the contribution of optimism to resilience is recorded at 48.7%, while social support contributes 33.9%. (c) Overall, these two variables explain 52.9% of the variation in the resilience of ODAPUS, emphasizing the importance of social support and optimism in enhancing the resilience of individuals living with Lupus.
