Abstract

Noise at construction sites, particularly in toll road projects, is a major risk factor affecting workers' health, especially their hearing systems. This study aims to analyze noise intensity and hearing impairment among workers in a toll road project at PT X. A quantitative descriptive method with a descriptive analysis approach was used. Data were collected secondarily through third-party noise measurements and audiometric tests provided by PT X. Noise levels were measured at four different points using a Sound Level Meter SNDWAY SW-524, while audiometric tests were conducted on 32 workers using a Proton Audiometer SNI IEC 60645-1:2017. Total sampling was employed for data collection. The research variables were noise intensity and hearing impairment. Results showed the lowest noise level was 53.3 dB at STA 28, followed by 54.2 dB at STA 29 and 54.5 dB at STA 30, while the highest noise level was 80.7 dBA at STA 25, still below the Noise Exposure Limit (NAB) of 85 dBA. Audiometric tests revealed that 25 workers (78%) had normal hearing thresholds, while 7 workers (22%) experienced mild hearing loss. Although noise levels were below the NAB, continuous exposure still poses a risk of hearing impairment. Study limitations include the use of secondary data and a relatively small sample size, limiting the generalizability of the findings. Preventive measures, such as administrative controls, job rotation in high-noise areas, and the use of personal protective equipment, are recommended to mitigate the negative impacts of noise on workers' health.
