Abstract
Scabies is a skin disease caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabei var hominis. The incidence of scabies infects more than 200 million worldwide with a prevalence of 0.2% - 71% with 5% - 10% of them occurring in children. Some factors that can cause scabies are the level of knowledge and personal hygiene behavior and the incidence of scabies often occurs in a group of people living together.Based on the results of preliminary studies, the incidence of scabies in Muhammadiyah Boarding School Moga is quite high. Therefore, this study aims to study the level of knowledge and personal hygiene behavior with the incidence of scabies in students of MBS Moga, Pemalang Regency. The study used an observational design through a cross-sectional approach. The selection of research samples used the purposive sampling technique and obtained a minimum of 94 students. The independent variables in this study were the level of knowledge and personal hygiene behavior, while the dependent variable was the incidence of scabies. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The results of the analysis using the Chi-Square test showed no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the incidence of scabies (p = 0.453). On the other hand, there is a significant relationship between personal hygiene behavior and the incidence of scabies (p = 0.000). The better one's personal hygiene behavior, the lower one's risk of developing scabies. Thus, students are expected to be able to improve their personal hygiene behavior, especially in the use of their personal belongings.
