Abstract

Madiun Regency has various superior tourism potentials which include natural beauty, history and culture. Even though it has great potential, tourism development in this area still faces various obstacles, such as inadequate infrastructure and suboptimal promotion. Therefore, an appropriate development strategy is needed to maximize tourism potential and support the local economy. This research aims to analyze the superior tourism potential in Madiun Regency and identify sustainable development strategies for the regional tourism sector. This research uses field observation, interviews and secondary data analysis methods. Data collection was carried out by interviewing related parties such as tourism managers, visitors and government agencies. The data was analyzed using the SWOT method to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in tourism development in Madiun Regency. The research results show that Madiun Regency has five leading tourist destinations, namely the Nongko Ijo Pine Forest, Bening Widas Reservoir, Kresek Monument, Nglambangan Historical Site, and Pencak Silat Cultural Tourism. The main obstacles in tourism development include limited infrastructure and lack of promotion. The recommended strategy is to improve infrastructure, more intensive promotion, and collaboration with the private sector to support sustainable tourism development.
