Abstract
The development of the manufacturing industry is currently increasingly advanced along with the development of the era and technology. The production process of household appliances, airplanes, cars, ships, and construction requires a lot of raw materials from steel and aluminum. The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) on Aluminum 6061 in a closed room using carbon and chromium powder media at a temperature of 450 ℃ with a time variation of 2 & 3 hours. Based on the results of the study that has been carried out Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Al + C shows morphological changes after treatment with a time variation of 2 and 3 hours. This is evidenced by the results of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) on the Al + C test specimen. This phenomenon occurs due to the process of carbon (C) diffusion in the test sample, namely aluminum (Al) at 2 hours carbon (C) diffusion of 22.245% by weight, then carbon (C) diffusion 3 hours of 13.155% by weight. The results of the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Al-C+Cr test showed morphological changes in the sample after treatment with a time variation of 2 & 3 hours. This is evident from the results of the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) at 2 hours the value of Chrom (Cr) particles was 0.041% by weight, then at 3 hours the value of Chrom (Cr) particles was 0.045% by weight.
