Abstract

The manufacturing industry is progressing in accordance with the many innovations in materials that are continuously updated and developed. Metal is one of the materials that has a big role in changing the world of manufacturing. The aim of this research is to test the effect of treating aluminum 6061 in a closed chamber using carbon, nickel and chromium media at a temperature of around 450° for 4, 5 or 6 hours on the SEM morphology. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) testing on Al + C material treated in a closed room with time variations of 4, 5 and 6 hours shows that carbon levels increase with the length of time used. This was shown after the specimens were subjected to a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) test where at the 4 hour treatment time variation the Carbon(C) content was 13.167% by weight, at the 5 hour time variation the Carbon(C) content increased by 15.965% by weight, and at the time variation At 6 hours, Crhome(Cr) levels also increased by 29,254% by weight. Tests from Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) of Al C + Ni + Cr showed morphological changes in specimens that had been treated for 4 hours with levels of (Ni) of 0.041% by weight and (Cr) of 0.046% by weight, at a time variation of 5 hours the levels (Ni) decreased by 0.039% by weight and (Cr) levels decreased by 0.044% by weight, while at a time variation of 6 hours (Ni) levels increased by 0.140% by weight and the content (Cr) increased by 0.079% by weight.
