Abstract
Waste has long been a real problem for the State of Indonesia which is still unresolved, especially in urban areas. Waste management in Wirogunan Village is known to be less effective, some residents still manage waste by hoarding, burning and throwing rubbish carelessly. This research aims to determine the relationship between access to infor- mation and knowledge and the behavior of housewives in waste management in Wirogunan Village. This type of research is analytical observational using quantitative methods with a cross-sectional approach. The total sample was 247 respondents with sample determination using Convenience sampling techniques. Data collection was car- ried out using a questionnaire that had been tested as valid and reliable. Data analysis used the chi-square test. The results of this study show that there is a significant rela- tionship between access to information and housewives behavior in waste management (p=0,001). There is no relationship between knowledge and housewives behavior in waste management (p=0,245). The conclusion from this research is that one of the fac- tors that encourages good waste management behavior is the access to information fac- tor. The greater the access to information obtained, the better the behavior of house- wives in waste management. There is a need to increase access to information related to waste management for the community, especially housewives so that they can easily get relevant information and can apply it well.
