Abstract

Global and national maternal mortality rates (MMR) remain a major challenge, especially in low- and middle-income countries. One of the significant interventions to reduce MMR is antenatal care (ANC) screening at least 6 times (K6). Participation of pregnant women in maternity classes plays an important role in improving understanding of pregnancy health, labor preparation, and K6 coverage. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. The sample size was 91 people, with accidental sampling technique. The independent variable measured was the participation of mothers in pregnant women's classes while the dependent variable was K6 coverage. Data collection using questionnaires to measure maternal participation in pregnant women's classes and K6 coverage by observing from the KIA book. Data analysis used Chi Square statistical test with α = 0.05. The results obtained p value = 0.001 (p<0.05) means that there is an influence of maternal participation in the class of pregnant women on K6 coverage. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of maternal participation in pregnant women's classes on K6 coverage in the Kartasura Health Center working area.
