Abstract

Klaten Regency is located in the central part of Java Island, characterized by diverse geographical, geological, hydrological, and demographic conditions. This region is influenced by the west monsoon winds, which contribute to the formation of clouds that can lead to heavy rainfall, resulting in subsequent impacts such as flooding and landslides. The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial and temporal patterns of hydro-meteorological disasters in Klaten Regency from 2018 to 2023. This research focuses on Klaten Regency, using data on hydro-meteorological disasters from 2018 to 2023. This quantitative study uses a descriptive approach with the population being all hydro-meteorological disasters from 2018 to 2023. The sample in this study is a saturated sample with a saturated sampling technique. Data collection techniques include secondary data and interviews, with a checklist form as the data collection instrument. Data analysis is performed using descriptive categorization, including high, medium, and low categories, disaster occurrence patterns, and temporal analysis. The results show that: 1) From 2018 to 2023, Klaten Regency had a clustered pattern of hydro-meteorological disasters with an NN value of 0.593147. The disasters of tornadoes, floods, and landslides also had clustered categories with NN values above 0.5. 2) From 2018 to 2023, Bayat sub-district had the highest category, followed by Gantiwarno, Cawas, and Karangnongko. Tornadoes occurred most frequently in 2022 and 2020, floods in 2023 and 2022, and landslides in 2022 and 2023, with an increase particularly during the peak rainy season from September to March. 3) Mitigation efforts for hydro-meteorological disasters in Klaten Regency should focus on areas with high disaster occurrences, such as Bayat, Cawas, and Gantiwarno, as well as the disaster-prone period from November to March, through strengthening mitigation infrastructure, implementing early warning systems, educating the public, and data integration. 4) BPBD Klaten should collaborate with BMKG to strengthen risk management and plan short- and long-term mitigation strategies. The government of Klaten Regency is expected to integrate disaster mitigation into the RTRW, promote reforestation, and allocate funds for mitigation infrastructure. Further research is needed to analyze the impacts of land-use changes, utilize geospatial technology, and assess the socio-economic vulnerability of the community to disasters
