Abstract

A theatre performance is a performance presented in front of the audience, usually on stage. In theatre performances, actors and actresses play roles according to the script prepared, bringing the story to life through dialogue, movement, expression, and music. The aim of this study is to explain the representation of resistance in the theatre performance of Mak Ono Asu Mlebu Ngomah by Kidung Theatre. The problem in this research is to uncover the representation message that exists in the stage performance of the theater Mak Ono Asu Mlebu Ngomah. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. Data collection is done using observation and documentation techniques. Based on the results of the research, the theatre performance Mak Ono Asu Mlebu Ngomah presents about the injustice of the small people by a group of financiers who have high power and the process of the occurrence of public resistance in terms of the symbols that exist in the performance of denotation, connotation and myth.
