Abstract
The importance of computational thinking skills owned by learners in helping to solve problems logically, systematically and creatively in a contextual manner. This ability is an important foundation in supporting numeracy understanding, namely in AKM-oriented problems that require critical and analytical thinking. This study aims to 1) analyze students' computational thinking ability in solving AKM numeracy problems related to decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition and algorithms. 2) to examine the differences in computational thinking ability in solving AKM numeracy problems in terms of gender. The type of research used in this study is mix method, which is a combination of quantitative research through t-test and qualitative research. The research subjects consisted of principals, teachers and elementary school students. The population in this study amounted to 217 grade 4 students using samples from 3 schools based on distance from Surakarta City Hall with the category of city schools, suburban schools and rural schools. The schools were Muhammadiyah 1 Ketelan Elementary School, Muhammadiyah Kotabarat Special Program Elementary School, and Muhammadiyah 22 Sruni Elementary School in Surakarta. The research sample was drawn by random sampling as many as 80 students. Data were collected using interviews, observation, documentation and tests. Data validity was done by triangulating sources and methods. Instrument validation was done with product moment. Instrument reliability was done with Cronbach Alpha. Qualitative data analysis techniques were carried out using the flow method, while quantitative using the t-test method. The results of this study indicate that 1) the critical thinking ability of fourth grade students is reflected in the ability of students to analyze problems. Students' computational thinking ability can be grouped into complete (includes all four CT indicators) and incomplete (has not fulfilled all four CT indicators) categories. 2) There is a significant difference in students' computational thinking ability in solving AKM-oriented numeracy problems in terms of gender. This is evidenced by the significance value of 0.002 <0.05 with t-count of 3.219.
