Abstract

In the increasingly complex era of globalization, the younger generation faces a wide range of challenges. Developing a strong and responsible character is a crucial aspect of fostering balanced individual growth. Amid shifting social and cultural values, the Youth Red Cross (PMR) plays a significant role in instilling responsibility among adolescents. This study aims to describe the management of the Youth Red Cross (PMR) extracurricular program in fostering the character of responsibility among students at MI Muhammadiyah Karanganyar. The management process includes: (1) planning, (2) implementation, and (3) evaluation. A descriptive qualitative approach was used in this research, with data collected from the head of the madrasa, the deputy head for student affairs, extracurricular coaches, and members of the Youth Red Cross (PMR) program. The findings indicate that the extracurricular management of the Youth Red Cross (PMR) has been well-organized and effectively implemented, significantly contributing to the development of students’ sense of responsibility. Students actively participating in PMR activities exhibit increased awareness of personal and social responsibility, enhanced teamwork skills, and improved decision-making abilities. It is recommended that schools or madrasas in Indonesia provide platforms to nurture students’ interests and talents and actively promote participation in PMR activities to cultivate a responsible character.
