Abstract
Adulthood is one of the stages of growth in human life. At this stage, a person is highly susceptible to various issues, one of which is stress. When someone experiences stress, adrenaline is released, which then increases blood pressure through artery contraction (vasoconstriction) and an increased heart rate, potentially triggering hypertension. Stress can also cause disturbances in the cardiovascular system, leading to blood pressure instability, which can induce hypertension. Hypertension is a common condition affecting people of all backgrounds, particularly adults. High blood pressure or hypertension can result from the stress an individual experiences, as a typical reaction to stress impulses is an increase in blood pressure. Additionally, individuals experiencing stress often struggle with sleep, which can contribute to consistently high blood pressure. Objective: To review journals investigating the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of hypertension in adults. Method: A literature review study; this research is based on prior investigations conducted by academics. Google Scholar, Pedro, and PubMed are the three main databases used for the literature review. The terms used in Indonesian are 'stress level' and 'hypertension.' Results: Based on the assessment results that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there are five studies with a score of 20.5 and categorized as SINTA 4.
