Abstract

Actions committed against someone, especially women, which result in physical, sexual, psychological suffering and sadness, or domestic neglect, are referred to as domestic violence (KDRT). These actions include threats, coercion or restrictions on freedom that are not in line with the law and that occur in the context of family life. In Surakarta itself, there have been many cases of domestic violence. This research aims to investigate law enforcement efforts carried out by the police in the process of dealing with domestic violence crimes, as well as the obstacles faced by the police in dealing with domestic violence crimes. The research method used is juridical-sociological. Primary data and secondary data are two types of data used in this research. Primary data was collected through interviews conducted at the Surakarta PPA Unit, while secondary data was collected through literature study. The data analysis technique used is a qualitative descriptive method. This research shows that law enforcement by the police in dealing with criminal acts of domestic violence in the city of Surakarta is carried out in a preventive and repressive manner, preventive countermeasures are carried out by carrying out outreach activities in the community through representatives of the Surakarta Police PPA Unit, while repressive methods are carried out by the PPA Polresta unit Surakarta in dealing with domestic violence cases in the city of Surakarta is by providing sanctions to perpetrators, in the form of imprisonment or fines.
