Abstract
Communication is very important for every human being and makes it a necessity of life, especially in a family. There are various communication patterns carried out by humans, especially in the relationship between parents and children in the current era of globalization. Because of the importance of communication in this era of globalization, the research background is to see how parents communicate with their children today, especially in the context of media literacy. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach to find out the communication patterns of parents to children in vulnerable families regarding understanding digital media literacy. The data collection process was carried out by in-depth interviews with 3 sources who could be categorized as vulnerable families. The research results show that there are 2 communication patterns that are widely applied by parents, namely permissive communication patterns and democratic communication patterns. This research can be used as a reference for parents to choose the right communication patterns to apply to their beloved children so that they grow into children with bright futures.
