Abstract
Self-concept is a picture of an individual in viewing and evaluating himself, which arises from interacting with other individuals. This research using quantitative methods aims to determine the relationship between self-actualization and body image with self-concept in students who are working on their thesis. The measuring tool used in this study uses a psychological scale with Google form media which is distributed directly by scanning a barcode or through online media such as WhatsApp, Twitter, Telegram, and Instagram. The population used in this study were all students who were working on their thesis at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, totaling ± 7051 people. The sampling technique used is incidental sampling technique with the number of samples used is 150 people. The results of the validity test on the concept variable and self-actualization variable moved from v=0.7 to v=0.85, while on the body image variable it moved from v=0.7 to v=0.9. The reliability test results on the self-concept scale get an Alpha Conbach of 0.839, then on the self-actualization scale get an Alpha Conbach of 0.756, while on the body image scale it produces an Alpha Conbach of 0.793. After going through the testing phase, the self-concept scale has 13 items, the self-actualization scale has 10 items, and the body image scale has 10 items as well. Data analysis used in this study is multiple linear regression. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between self-actualization variables and body image variables with self-concept variables and Sig. obtained by 0.000 (p <0.05) and the F value of 93.327. Then there is a significant positive relationship between the self-actualization variable and the self-concept variable with the Sig value. of 0.000 (p <0.05) and a t value of 5.194, and there is also a significant positive relationship between body image variables and self-concept variables with Sig. of 0.000 (p <0.05) and a t value of 8.833. The effective contribution of the research was 55.9% with details of the self-actualization variable of 18.3% and the body image variable of 37.7%.
