Abstract
Twitter social media can make it easier for fans to get information about their idols. Many fans expressed their admiration and liking for their favorite idols. The activity is carried out by fans on their fan account where the account is an account dedicated by fans to their idols. Fans use avatars and usernames that are much different from real identities as virtual identities formed by fans. This study aims to see how fan accounts are used as identities for female K-Pop fans on social media Twitter. This research uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. The basic theory and concept used is virtual identity. The data was collected by means of semi-structured interviews with K-Pop fans who have fan accounts on social media Twitter. The results of this study show that the virtual identity built by fans on the fan account is a disguise to avoid judgment and be able to freely express and show their admiration and love for idols. Virtual identities exhibited by fans are divided into several types of virtual identities.
