Abstract
Cancer has an impact on all aspects of life, including the psychology of cancer survivors who are individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer, are undergoing treatment, and most of them have managed to get cured. Cancer survivors are prone to experiencing various problems, both physically and psychologically. Social support is an important factor that can help survivors overcome various problems due to their illness. Social support is defined as reciprocal relationship given by individuals to other individuals as evidence that they are cared for and loved by others. By providing appropriate social support to cancer survivors, the support provided is beneficial for the recipient of the support. The purpose of this research is to describe the appropriate social support that cancer survivors can receive from their surroundings. This research is a qualitative research. The subjects in this study were 2 main subjects who had been diagnosed with any type of cancer, underwent cancer treatment for a year or more, and were willing to become participants, as well as 2 supporting subjects who were caregivers of the main subject. Data analysis used is descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that cancer survivors have received various forms of social support, but some of the supports are still considered inappropriate. The provision of social support to cancer survivors can be adjusted to the needs of cancer survivors so that the support provided in beneficial. Keywords: social support, cancer survivor, cancer
