Abstract
During the COVID-19 pandemic, public anxiety emerged, the factors causing anxiety include suppressed emotions due to low emotional regulation and social support in the environment around individuals in the form of experiences with family, friends, friends, coworkers, and others. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional regulation and social support with anxiety during a pandemic. This study proposes three hypotheses, namely: (1) There is a relationship between emotional regulation and social support with anxiety during a pandemic; (2) There is a negative relationship between emotion regulation and anxiety during a pandemic; (3) There is a negative relationship between social support and anxiety during the pandemic. The research method uses quantitative methods with anxiety as the dependent variable, and the independent variables are emotion regulation and social support. The population of this research is the people of Surakarta City totaling 522,364 people. A sample of 100 respondents was determined by purposive quota sampling technique. Collecting data in the study through a google form questionnaire. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis between emotional regulation and social support with anxiety during the pandemic R=0.666 sig.p=0.000(p<0.01), meaning that there is a very significant relationship between emotional regulation and social support and anxiety during the pandemic. The results of the analysis between emotion regulation and anxiety r = -0.662 sig.p = 0.000 (p < 0.01) meaning that there is a very significant negative relationship between emotion regulation and anxiety during the pandemic, for social support and anxiety r = -0.479 Sig.p = 0.000 (p<0.01) means that there is a very significant negative relationship between social support and anxiety during the pandemic. High emotional regulation and social support have an impact on reducing anxiety in society during a pandemic by means of individuals having the ability to regulate emotions well and gain physical and psychological comfort.
