Abstract

This research is to find out the case of film piracy which is currently a trend in the group channel messaging application, namely Telegram and to understand the forms of legal protection according to the applicable legal provisions. The method used by the author is a normative approach and a case approach, namely by using the applicable law approach and the current case approach. The results that can be concluded from this study are that in Indonesia, the problem of copyright infringement in cinematography such as downloading, watching, and duplicating pirated films without permission from the creator is not a serious problem. As a result of such things, it can result in enormous losses and a decrease in legal understanding related to copyright has not been able to run properly. So that people who have committed piracy must be dealt with strictly based on applicable legal provisions.
