Abstract

Islam explains that the husband is the leader for the wife in the family because of the advantages given to him. Including polygamy marriage which is a shari'a that came down on the revelation of Allah subhanahu wata'ala. Today, the husband's leadership in polygamy families is actually being questioned. Due to the fact that many polygamy families end up in divorce. The breakdown of polygamy household relations is due to the husband's inability to lead his family properly. So this study explores the husband's leadership in a polygamy family using a qualitative phenomenological method through in-depth interviews with polygamy actors. Found 2 (two) discussions in this study, namely the characteristics of the husband's leadership and leadership problems and solving problems in polygamy families. Characteristics that a husband must have as a leader in a polygamy household include having a goal or vision, being able to meet needs, good communication, being able to educate and guide, providing a sense of security and comfort, and being able to solve problems. Leadership problems in polygamy families include being unable to act fairly, unable to meet needs, closed, indifferent in family education, and domestic violence.
