Abstract
This study aims to describe the students' ability to solve mathematical problems in terms of the polya problem solving method with the content of a flat circle. This research is a qualitative descriptive study involving 11 grade VIII students of SMP N 04 Banjarnegara. Data collection techniques through written tests, and interviews. This study uses triangulation techniques in the validity of the data, in this study the triangulation used is the triangulation of research data analysis techniques with data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate the ability of students to solve story problems with circle content in terms of solving polya problems according to Alcaci, namely: 1) Understanding the problem 69.39%, 2) Preparing a Completion Plan 58.33%, 3) Implementing a Completion Plan 80.68 %, 4) Rechecking the Settlement Results 6.82%. These results indicate that the indicators of understanding the problem both students with high and medium criteria on average have met, while students with low criteria are still lacking. Almost all students are still lacking in indicators of compiling a completion plan, only some are already good. In the indicators of implementing the completion plan, both students with high, medium and low abilities were able to carry out well, on the indicator of re-examining the completion results, students in all categories tended to ignore and did not implement. Most of the students have not been able to solve problems using the polya method, especially on the indicator of checking the results of the completion.
