Abstract
Introduction: Optimizing the delivering balanced nutrition messages requires proper communication, information and education. Nutrition education using visual game media is an effective way to increase knowledge about balanced nutrition. The benefits of counseling about balanced nutrition messages for school children motivate the creation of innovative new media to increase children's interest in balanced nutrition messages Objective: Aimed to analyze the effect of nutrition education using game media on knowledge about balanced nutrition in elementary school children. Methodology: This research used a literature (narrative) review of quasi-experimental research design articles by criticizing 8 journals. Data were taken from national reputable Google Schoolar data base for the last 10 years and indexed by Sinta S1 – S4. Keywords "Educational media" and "Educational media for students' balanced nutrition games". Results: 3 game media increased the highest average value of knowledge almost 60% after the intervention. The two articles with the highest average knowledge score; the first article on picture card game media, an average of 45.62±7.67 increased by 80.46±7.87 and nutrition puzzle media 43.88±7.8 increased 72.96±7.91, there was a significant difference in the effect of changes in the knowledge value of students who were given picture card games and puzzles games (P =.002).. The second article with TTS game media, the mean value was 41.33±14.104, an increase of 71.67±19.696, there is a difference in the knowledge of crossword puzzle groups and media lectures (p = 0.010). Conclusion: 8 articles showed that there was an increase in the average value of students' knowledge after the intervention with game media compared to the control group with lectures. Nutrition education with game media had an effect on increasing the nutritional knowledge of school children before and after the intervention. Puzzle media, picture cards and crossword puzzles increased the students' average scores the most.
