Abstract
Anemia most vulnerable happens to young girls and impacts on the decreasing of concentration, brain performance, and academic achievements. The prevalence of girls suspected anemia in Sukoharjo Regency in 2015 was totally 28.08%. Two major factors causing anemia are family socio-economic and energy intake. This study aimed to find out the correlation between family socio economic and energy intake with the suspected cases of anemia in adolescent girls in Sukoharjo district. This research was used an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approach to 110 adolescent girls who were already qualified the inclusive criteria. Data of family socio economic were obtained by socio economic questionnaires, food expenditure questionnaires and non-food expenditures. Data of energy intake were obtained by SQ-FFQ in the last three months, and the suspected cases data of anemia were obtained based on the early detection questionnaire of anemia signs. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results of this study show that most of the mother's education and parental income were in the high category, respectively by 53.7% and 70.9%, Then most of the mothers were classified as working, which is 61.8%, energy intake in the less category of 77.3% and sufficient by 22.7%, suspected anemia by 30.9% and non-suspects of anemia by 69.1%. There was no correlation between family socio economic the suspected cases of anemia and there was no correlation between energy intake and the suspected cases of anemia in adolescent girls in Sukoharjo district.
