Abstract
Anemia is a global health problem that often occurs in adolescent girls. The prevalence of anemia in Sukoharjo District in 2014 was 46.58%. Iron deficiency accounts for 50% of all cases of anemia. In the absorption of iron, an enhancer is needed to help the absorption process, namely Vitamin C. Vitamin C plays a role in the absorption of non-heme iron. Enforcement of the diagnosis of anemia cannot be done due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so it only allows the determination of suspected anemia. The purpose of this study aimed to determine the correlation between iron intake and vitamin C intake with the incidence of suspected anemia in adolescent girls in Sukoharjo Regency. This study used an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approach. School selection was done by simple random sampling from a number of schools. The sample was selected by simple random sampling that met the inclusion criteria of 110 students. Data on iron intake and vitamin C intake were obtained using a Semi-Quantitative FFQ form within the last 3 months and data on suspected anemia were obtained using a questionnaire to detect signs of anemia. The results of data analysis using the Chi Square test method (X2). The results of this study showed that the intake of iron in the fewer categories was 70.9%, the intake of vitamin C in the fewer categories was 40%, and suspected anemia was 30.9%. The percentage of subjects with low iron intake and suspected anemia was 28.20%, the percentage of subjects with insufficient vitamin C intake and suspected anemia was 29.54%. The results of this study there was no correlation between iron intake and vitamin C intake with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls
