Abstract

Psychological well-being is the main criterion in mental health and has been found to have many benefits such as improving physical health, immunity, reducing psychological problems, problem solving skills. While the democratic leadership style is the ability of a leader to influence others to achieve common goals that have been set jointly between employees and leaders. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between democratic leadership style and psychological well-being of employees. The hypothesis in this study is "there is a positive relationship between democratic leadership style and psychological well being". The population of this study were employees of PT X in Sukoharjo, which due to having 600 employees, the researchers took a sample of 10% of the population, namely 60 employees with the minimum criteria of working at PT X for 3 years, and sampling using a simple technique. random sampling. Collecting data using the scale of Democratic Leadership Style and Psychological Well-being. The analysis for hypothesis testing in this study uses product moment analysis to examine the relationship between psychological well-being and democratic leadership style which is carried out using the SPSS 16 for windows application. Based on Karl Pearson's product moment correlation analysis, the value of rxy = 0.727 with p of 0.001 (p <0.05) was obtained. The effective contribution of the democratic leadership style is 52%, which means that the democratic leadership style affects the psychological well-being of employees. This shows that there is a relationship between psychological well-being and democratic leadership style
