Abstract
The purpose of this study was to: 1) Describe characteristics of student learning discipline in online learning, 2) Describe characteristics of teacher assistance in strengthening student learning discipline in online learning, 3) Describe characteristics of obstacles to teacher assistance in student learning discipline in online learning at SD Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Andong. The benefits of this research are expected to be a reference for school principals and teachers in determining the steps for mentoring students' learning discipline in online learning. This study is a qualitative with a phenomenological study design. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. To validate the data, this study use technical triangulation, source triangulation, and data analysis by means of data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusion. The results of the study include, firstly, the characteristics of students' learning disciplines have decreased during online learning. The second is the characteristics of teacher assistance in student learning disciplines in online learning, there are two models. The first model is teacher assistance in formal learning disciplines. In this model there are three stages, the first stage is planning by making lesson plans and learning videos. In the second stage, namely implementation, at this stage the teacher uses digital platforms such as whatsapp groups, youtube, video calls, and google forms in accompanying and guiding students. The third stage is evaluation, the teacher uses online test-based assessment and discipline character assessment. The method used in this model is reward and punishment. The second model is assistance with a counseling guidance model. The steps in this mentoring model are division of student schedules and division of tasks between class teachers and accompanying teachers. The implementation of mentoring uses video calls and the method used is group guidance for class V and private for class II. Third, characteristics the obstacles of student learning discipline assistance in online learning implementation were the lack of preparation by principal, teachers, students and their parent, lack of supervision by student’s parent, limited facilities, and difficulty accessing internet.
