Abstract

The concern among many parents about the future education of their children. Home schooling is increasingly seen as a safer and more viable option. This paper aims for the Heutagogy Approach: Learning Design in Homeschooling New Normal Era. This study adopted a qualitative approach to capture the perspectives and experiences of parents who were identified as home-educators at Kak Seto Mangkubumen's home-school, Banjarsari Surakarta, Central Java. Given the nature of research, using qualitative methods, case study research method refers to an in-depth understanding of people's primary experiences. The primary data collection tool consisted of semi-structured interviews with a series of open-ended questions. This study uses a simple random sampling strategy with the determination of respondents based on filling out online questionnaires. the implementation of the national learning model combined with heutagogy in the non-formal homeschooling Kas Seto school (HSKS) Mangkubumen, Banjarsari showed high results. Learning with the heutagogy approach is proven to be more adaptive in the new-normal, so that students are more independent in learning, while the application of heutagogy in formal schools is considered difficult to realize because of the large number of students, limited teachers and mentors, and the national curriculum that does not adopt the heutagogy approach. The results of the questionnaire also show that the learning process in formal schools during the new-normal period tends to pay less attention to the learning needs of students.
