Abstract

The didactic value is an important thing that can be conveyed as a motivation to the reader with the values taught to be better in life. The aims of this study were (1) to analyze the didactic value of non-fiction books, (2) to analyze the relevance of didactic values as teaching materials applied to high school students in non-fiction books. The data of this study are didactic values and the source of this research data is the linkage of teaching materials proclaimed by Permendikbud No 37 of 2018 regarding enrichment books or non-fiction books derived from the book "An Art for Being Stupidly Stupid" by Mark Manson. The method used is a qualitative approach. Collecting data using the technique of listening and noting. The data analysis technique uses data collection techniques, data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that there were three kinds of didactic values contained in the non-fiction book, namely 1) Moral Values related to (Life in Effective Thinking, Hard Work, and Responsibility), 2) Social Values related to Caring, and 3) Cultural Values related to culture. The didactic values in this non-fiction book can be taught to students as an enrichment book or as a book of learning material in real non-fiction books as a discussion of Basic Competencies taught through the 2013 curriculum, KD 3.14 explains that students identify the values contained in a book. enrichment (non-fiction) and one fiction drama book, as well as KD 4.14 which explains that students write reflections on the values contained in an enrichment book (nonfiction) and one drama book (fiction).
