Abstract
Background: According to the results of the basic health research (Riskesdas), the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia in 2013 reached 37.2% and there was a decline in 2018 to 30.8%. The percentage of this figure is still quite higher than the World Health Organisation reference standard target, which is 20%. Several factors causing the cases stunting in children under two years old are energy intake and exclusive breastfeeding. Objective: This study aimed to criticize or review the correlation between of energy intake and exclusive breastfeeding with incidence of stunting in children under two years old (6-24 months). Research Methodology: The research design used in this study was a literature review that had been simplified by criticizing 10 national articles (5 articles on energy intake and 7 articles on exclusive breastfeeding). The research articles were taken from the google scholar database. The keywords used were Exclusive Breastfeeding, Energy Intake, Children Under Two Years Old, and Stunting. The journal inclusion criteria used were full text and in Indonesian, with national reputation for indexed S1-S4, the types of research in journals were cross-sectional and case control. the subjects studied were children under two years old (6 24 months). Results: From 5 articles reviewed, all stated that adequate energy intake (≥80% RDA) could keep children from experiencing stunting. Of the 7 articles, all stated that by being given exclusive breastfeeding, children were kept from experiencing stunting. Conclusion: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 8 articles stated that there was a correlation between of energy intake and exclusive breastfeeding with incidence of stunting in children under two years old (6-24 months).
