Abstract

This research aimed to describe (1) The role of school principal in improving teachers performance at Elementary School 2 Kronggen during pandemic era (2) The problem faced by school principal in improving teachers performance at Elementary School 2 Kronggen during pandemic era (3) The effort conducted by school principal in improving teachers performance at Elementary School 2 Kronggen during pandemic era. This study was a qualitative research. The data collection technique was using interview, and documentation. The data analysis was using interactive model. The data validity test was using source and technique triangulation. The research result shows that: (1) The school principal role in improving teacherd performance at Elementary School 2 Kronggen during pandemic includes: Principal as manager, provide coaching for teachers to prepare the online learning, to begin in the making of lesson plan so that teacher can conditioning an effective online learning, provide teacher empowerment by involving in the Teacher Group Work and in the online seminar. Principal as administrator, knowing all the administration in the shool, managing the document archieve, and giving guidance to complete the learning administration. 2) The school principal role in improving teachers performance on lesson act were: Principal as educator give direction for teachers to conduct online learning in varied and effective way. Principal as leader, lead to influence and move teachers then teacher's performance during pandemic will improve, discuss and establish two way communiation, and decision making to avoid conflict. Principal as innovator establish harmonious relationship, give ideas and thoughts of learning method during online learning. Principal as motivator give motivation for teachers in the meeting, give agreed rewards and give praise that makes teachers compete to improve their performance during pandemic. 3) The school principal role in improving teacher's performance on evaluate the learning were: Principal as supervisor conduct supervision and follow-up in the form of input, solutions and warnings to teachers on the quality of online learning. (2). Problems faced by principal in improving teacher's performance at Elementary School 2 Kronggen during pandemic includes (a) Lack of shared awareness among teachers in improving performance. (b) Lack of teacher skills to technology. (c) Planned learning aim can not be reached maximally. (d) Lack of parental assistance during online learning. (3). Efforts conducted by principal to the problem of improving teachers performance at Elementary School 2 Kronggen during pandemic were: (a) Principal schedule regular meetings, provide coaching and motivation. (b) Involve teachers in various activity such as Teachers Group Work and technology skill training. (c) Principal make schedule for teachers then teacher will held offline learning once in a while . (d) Principal give socialization for students' parents.
