Abstract
Character education in a school setting is learning that leads to the strengthening and development of children's behavior as a whole based on a certain value referred to by the school. Education is widely seen as a moral enterprise. Teachers are always concerned with what should be said and done and how students should behave. They pay great attention to efforts to inculcate moral values and improve the individual and social behavior of their students. Instilling student character values both in behavior and morally and their religiosity. The cultivation of character values is expected to be able to guide and direct the character of SMK students to be better. This research method is categorized as a type of qualitative research. So the researchers used a qualitative approach in the form of case study research. Qualitative research is proposed to understand social phenomena from the participant's point of view or perspective. The purpose of this research is to describe the model of character values in SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Karanganyar. To describe the driving and inhibiting factors for planting character values in SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Karanganyar. The results of the research on the character cultivation model Before the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were still running normally and were able to instill from 18 character values according to the Ministry of Education and Culture, one of which was the value of disciplined character that could be implemented properly. The value of disciplined character at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Karanganyar is realized with time discipline, self-discipline, and disciplinary programs at Battalion 413. The application of discipline character values before and during the Pandemic is the same as its implementation. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was arguably less effective because it applied character values. For supporting factors in the application of discipline character values are the role of parents, the role of teachers, technology that supports, and a good environment. While the inhibiting factor in the application of discipline character values is due to signals and internet connections that are sometimes lost, teachers cannot explain optimally unlike at school, and the behavior of students at home cannot be monitored.
