Abstract
This study aims to describe the efforts of Islamic religious education teachers in shaping students' Islamic characters, supporting and inhibiting factors in shaping the Islamic character of students at Junior High School of Birrul Walidain Muhammadiyah Sragen. This type of research is field research with a phenomenological approach. The research subjects are Islamic Education teachers, school principals, and students. Data collection techniques in this study using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysys was carried out with an interactive model that has three components, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validity techniques which are divided into two types, namely source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of this study indicate that 1) the efforts of Islamic religious education teachers in shaping students' Islamic character were carried out by modeling students, doing habituation, monitoring student worship, giving advice to students, giving motivational stories or stories, giving punishment with added rewards, and doing discussion with parents of guardian of students. 2) the supporting factors in the effort to form the Islamic character of students are regular meetings of the parents of guardians, the cohesiveness of the teacher, and adequate school infrastructure. 3) the inhibiting factors in the effort to form students' Islamic character are parenting styles, social media, and children's social environment.
