Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has completely changed the policy structure, including in the education sector. All school levels must conduct distance learning, including SMA Negeri 2 Klaten. This study aims to 1) determine the implementation of distance learning in class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 2 Klaten, 2) find out the problems encountered in geography subjects in class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 2 Klaten. The method used in this study is qualitative. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentary studies. In this study, it was shown that class XI IPS 2 was the best parallel class for the Social Sciences major. Class XI IPS 2 includes students with diverse economic backgrounds. The results of the research include 1) the implementation of distance learning during the pandemic, especially in the geography subject of Class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 2 Klaten has been running in accordance with applicable protocols and policies. Distance learning in geography utilizes several supporting application media such as Zoom Meeting, Google Classroom, and WhatsApp Group, 2) problems in the implementation of distance learning in geography subjects include the feeling of reluctance in students when they want to ask the teacher, students are lazy reading and printing the modules provided by the teacher, the lack of students' understanding of geography material and the conditions of the student's learning environment that are not conducive, internet networks that are not smooth and internet quotas that run out quickly become problems in implementing distance learning activities
