Abstract
Introduction: The proportion of diabetes mellitus in Surakarta is 24.5% and the highest is in Jayengan, Penumping and Sibela Puskesmas. DM risk factors include the intake of macro nutrients such as energy, carbohydrates, fats or micro. Objective: This study aimed to determine the differences in energy, carbohydrate and fat intake in diabetes mellitus and non-diabetes mellitus patients in Surakarta. Methodology: This type of research was an observational study with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples was 82 people and the samples were taken using consecutive sampling method. The collection of data on energy, carbohydrate and fat intake used the FFQ questionnaire. The statistical analysis used was the Independent t-test and the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The results showed that energy intake in the DM group was 76.67% in the mild deficit category while in the non-DM group 92.19% was in the good category. Carbohydrate intake in the DM group was 98.05% in the good category while in the non DM group 94, 5% was in the good category, and the intake of fat in the DM group was 107.67% in the good category, while in the non-DM group 99.01% was in the good category. The results of the difference test showed that there was no difference in energy intake (0.118), carbohydrate intake (0.945), and fat intake (0.842) in DM and non-DM patients. Conclusion: There is no difference in energy intake (0.118), carbohydrate intake (0.945), and fat intake (0.842) in DM and non DM patients.
