Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is an abnormal increase in blood pressure in the arteries continuously over a period. Hypertension is often found in the elderly. Hypertension can cause problems in the quality of life of the elderly, so that the quality of life of the elderly will be disturbed and the life expectancy of the elderly will also decrease. This study aims to determine the description of blood pressure and quality of life of hypertensive elderly at the Elderly Posyandu in Gemolong Sragen district. This research applies a quantitative approach with the research method used is descriptive. The sample of this study used a total sampling technique where each sample taken met the inclusion criteria of the respondents as many as 40 elderly. The instruments used in this study included a spignomanometer, stethoscope and a questionnaire containing respondent data and blood pressure measurement results. The research instrument used a questionnaire from WHOQOL (World Health Organization Quality Of Life) BREF and was modified by the researcher and consisted of 10 questions, because to make it easier for respondents to understand the questions, 10 questions were taken from 25 WHOQOL questionnaires. With a total score of Less than 15 = Low, 15-35 = Moderate, More than 36 = High. Data analysis in this study used univariate. The results of this study indicate the characteristics of elderly people with hypertension at the elderly posyandu in Gemolong Sragen District are mostly aged 60-70 years, are female, have high school education and are housewives. Most of the blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension was in the category of stage 1 hypertension, while for the quality of life of the elderly with hypertension at the elderly posyandu, Gemolong District, Sragen was mostly classified as moderate and good. Respondents in this study are expected to continue to maintain and increase their motivation to always try to maintain their quality of life.
