Abstract

Media is a tool for teachers in providing increased learning knowledge to students. The objectives of this study were: (1) To find out the students' abilities about the material knowledge of lahar disasters. (2) Knowing the role of animated video media in providing knowledge of lahar disaster material to students. Researchers in conducting this research used quantitative research with a quasi-experimental model in the form of one group pretest-posttest design. The data analysis technique used statistical data analysis techniques in the form of: normality test, homogeneity test, and t test. Researchers conducted data analysis in the form of test data validation test, the purpose of the Vallidation test is to find out valid data and can be used by researchers to conduct research. The data validation tests were in the form of: test the validity of the questions, the reliability of the questions, the distinguishing power of the questions, and the difficulty level of the questions. The results showed 1) Based on the results of the test in the form of pretest and posttest, it showed that the level of students' knowledge in understanding the material for cold lava flow disasters had a significant difference in values for the average pretest results students got a score of 63.50, while for the average posttest results students got a value of 83.17. The results of the two data can be concluded that there is a difference between the pretest and posttest scores. 2) Based on hypothesis testing using paired sample test, it shows the results of t count of 0.000 with a confidence level of 95% (α = 0.05), meaning that 0.000 <0.05 so that a decision can be made that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted so that it can be concluded that the media Animated videos can provide students with knowledge in understanding lahar disaster material.
