Abstract

The outbreak of the Covid-19 case in Indonesia has made education in Indonesia, especially at the primary school level, implement distance learning. This study aims to determine the implementation of distance learning during the pandemic, the orientation of the continuation of distance learning, and the readiness of students and schools in the continuation of the application of distance learning in primary schools in the South Balikpapan sub-district. The following is the problem formulation of this research, namely: 1) How is the implementation of distance learning in elementary schools in South Balikpapan District during the pandemic? 2) How is the orientation of distance learning sustainability in Elementary Schools in South Balikpapan District? 3) How is the readiness of students and schools in the sustainable application of distance learning? This research uses a qualitative approach, with a descriptive analytical method. The result of qualitative research is the tendency of schools in the sustainability of distance learning systems with consideration of student readiness. The data collection techniques used were open questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The results showed 1) Distance learning was carried out online in accordance with essential KD so that KD was easier to achieve in the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. 2) 59% of respondents were not interested, while 27% of respondents answered that they were interested and 14% of respondents answered with doubt. Respondents who have answered that they are not interested will continue to apply pre-pandemic learning because it is considered more effective than distance learning (Blanded Learning). 3) The results showed that most of the primary schools in Balikpapan Selatan sub-district were ready to carry out distance learning after Covid-19, but around 37% of respondents answered that students were not ready.
