Abstract
The world of education is a very important place to always study and develop models, concepts, strategies with the aim of being able to make changes and reforms. In this case, especially the renewal of Islamic education which is the spirit for the Muslim community and especially for Islamic educational institutions. The figure of Ahmad Dahlan is one of the relevant topics in discussing the figures of renewal of Islamic education in Indonesia. In this study, he tries to examine the reforms made by Ahmad Dahlan in the framework of Islamic education. This research method is qualitative research using a research library study. In this study using primary data sources of books including (1) Progressive Education Peradigma: Theory and Praxis of Ahmad Dahlan's Religious Progressive Education (2) The Relevance of Muhammadiyah Education: The Reform of Islamic Education Sayyid Ahmad Khan and Ahmad Dahlan (3) Seed International Standard Schools Reflection on Social Capital and Cultural Capital. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by observing literacy and recording document contents. Data analysis techniques through the process of data reduction, presentation of data and drawing conclusion verification. Based on the results of this study, the first results obtained, Islamic Education Renewal in the view of KH. Ahmad Dahlan can be seen in his efforts to present the face of Islamic education as an integral education system. KH renewal. Ahmad Dahlan, who wants to integrate the dichotomy of science, maintain balance, is intellectual, moral and religious can be seen in the renewal aspect of KH. Ahmad Dahlan, which includes: a) the purpose of Islamic education; he argued that the goal of a perfect Islamic education is to give birth to a complete individual, able to master religious and general knowledge, material and spiritual; b) Islamic education material or curriculum; he took two actions at once, namely giving religious lessons in secular Dutch schools, and establishing his own schools in which religion and general knowledge were taught together. According to KH. Ahmad Dahlan includes moral education, individual education and community education; and c) teaching methods or techniques; he mostly adopted the advanced Western school education system. Second, the relevance of KH renewal. Ahmad Dahlan, in the context of Islamic education in the 21st century, it seems that some of them are still suitable and some of them need to be perfected if applied in the 21st century. Among the reforms, KH. Ahmad Dahlan, who is related to 21st century Islamic education, is an aspect of the objectives of Islamic education and the Islamic education curriculum, because of KH. Ahmad Dahlan wanted to synergize the cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. Moreover, in the 21st century, the direction of Islamic education itself does not only make humans have cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities but in a person must be embedded in attitudes and personal morals.
