Abstract
The minimum wage in the Surakarta Residence always increased during the period of 2008–2018, however the value of the increase tended to fluctuate and inconsistently every year. This fluctuation is due to the economic and labor market conditions in the Surakarta Residence. The research aimed to estimate the effect of inflation rate, employment rate, and GRDP on the minimum wage in Surakarta Residence during the period of 2008–2018 using a fixed effect panel data regression model. The result of this study showed that employment rate had a negative effect on the minimum wage, and GRDP had a positive effect on the minimum wage. For the regional goverment in the Surakarta Residence, the policy for determining the minimum wage must pay attention to the aspirations of companies and workers because it is related to business continuity and worker welfare.
