Abstract
Irfan Arifuddin / A51016200. Implementation of Remedial teaching in Mathematics Lesson Class IV SD in Jatinom District. Research Paper, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. September, 2020. Mathematics subjects are one of the subjects that are considered difficult for students so that in the teaching and learning process of students, especially in mathematics there are still some students who experience difficulties in learning which cause their learning outcomes are not as expected. In connection with this, elementary students those who still have not reached the standard of completeness need to be given remedial teaching. This study aims to describe the implementation of remedial teaching mathematics to fourth grade elementary school students in Jatinom Regency. The implementation of remedial teaching includes planning, implementation and follow-up. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research subjects were grade IV teachers. Data collection techniques using interview techniques, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The validity of the data was tested by technique triangulation and source triangulation. Based on the results of the study, the teacher has not fully implemented the procedure for diagnosing student mathematics learning difficulties. The approach used by all teachers in the implementation of teaching remedial mathematics is a curative approach. The methods used in remedial teaching include assignment methods, question and answer methods, and individual teaching methods. Teachers have not used varied methods in remedial teaching. Not all students who take remedial learning can improve their grades, but there are also schools where students can achieve the learning goals or standards set. According to the teacher, this happened because of the students' low abilities. The teacher does not pay attention to other aspects that allow students to still get incomplete grades.
