Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine how the emotional stability of women during their first pregnancy. The method used to describe the emotional stability of women experiencing the first pregnancy process in this study is a phenomenological qualitative method. The data in this study were obtained by researchers through the interview method. Interviews were conducted with selected informants using purposive sampling technique with the criteria (a) women who have undergone their pregnancy for the first time in their entirety from the first conception to delivery (b) have the same life background from one informant to another in this case the informant must be a housewife. (c) willing to become informants through informed concent.. Furthermore, the data analysis techniques used in this study were qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that the forms of emotion experienced by informants in the first trimester include feelings of fear, annoyance, resentment, anxiety, feelings of anger that are more sensitive and feelings of crying easily. Then, during the second trimester, two informants stated that the feelings or emotions that appeared were better than in the first trimester where the two informants felt more stable. Meanwhile, 2 other informants still felt the form of emotions as in the first trimester, although not worse than before. Furthermore, entering the third trimesemter, the forms of emotion felt by the informants include fear, worry and anxiety, this is due to concerns about the safety of the mother and the baby as they approach the birth. Then, based on the results of the interview, it is known that the four informants have good emotional maturity, this is marked by the ability to adapt to the stress experienced by, communicating with parents, trying to divert the perceived stress, and doing what they like and even though sometimes the emotions that arise still have an effect on daily activities. Furthermore, based on the results of the interview, it is known that the four informants have good self-control, this is indicated by being able to withstand the anger they experience and the ability to face extreme situations calmly through positive thinking and establishing communication with their husbands.
