Abstract

The research aims to examine: (1) the impact of Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy and Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy on mathematics learning outcomes, (2) the impact of learning independent on mathematics learning outcomes, (3) the interaction between learning strategies seen from the learning independen on mathematics learning outcomes. Type of the research is quantitative with quasi-experimental design. Population of the research is all of the 7th grades students at one of state middle school at Surakarta Central Java, Indonesia. The number of student in the study of 57 students from two different classes were involved in the study, assigned as experimental group and control group. They were selected through cluster random sampling technique. The group which was assigned as experimental group was instructed through problem solving strategy whereas the other group was discovery learning. Data collection techniques used the method of test, questionnaire and documentation. Technique of analysis data used two way analysis of variance. From the analysis concluded that: (1) there are impacts of Think Pair Share (TPS) learning strategy and Think Talk Write on mathematics learning outcomes, (2) there are impacts of student learning independen on mathematics learning outcomes, (3) There are no interaction between learning strategies and learning independen on mathematics learning outcomes.
