Abstract

This article is an analysis of critical thinking skills in solving open-ended questions on the SPLDV material. This study aims to describe students' high-level critical thinking skills in solving open-ended questions on the Two Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV) material at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Masaran. This type of research is qualitative research. This study was designed with a descriptive approach, which is useful for determining students' critical thinking skills from various predetermined indicators. Data collection techniques used were written tests and interviews. Data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. In this study, researchers used technical triangulation by checking data from the same source with different techniques. Subjects in this study are subjects who have high-level critical thinking skills. The results of this study indicate the ability to think critically with a high category in the indicators of focus critical thinking is able to understand the problems given, by explaining their understanding of the questions. On indicators of critical thinking reason, the subject is able to provide reasons based on relevant evidence at each step in making decisions and conclusions. Inference indicators in the subject are able to make conclusions correctly and have the right reasons to support the conclusions made. Indicators of critical thinking of the situation the subject is able to use all the information in accordance with the problem, because the subject is able to solve the test questions correctly. On the indicators of critical thinking, subject clarity is able to use further explanation of what is meant in the conclusions made, able to explain the terms in the problem. In the critical thinking indicator, the subject's overview is able to check back thoroughly from start to finish (generated by FRISC). The subject of high critical thinking skills is able to solve open-ended questions with various answers from the subject.
