Abstract
This study aims to describe: 1) the role of the principal's leadership in coaching teacher performance at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan Klaten, 2) the efforts of the principal in implementing teacher performance coaching at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan Klaten, 3) obstacles to the principal's leadership in coaching teacher performance at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan Klaten, 4) the solution to overcome the obstacles to the leadership of the principal in coaching teacher performance at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan Klaten. This type of research is qualitative-descriptive, with data collection techniques: interviews, documentation, and observations. Data analysis using data reduction techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: 1) the role of the principal in coaching teacher performance, namely directing, communicating and finding solutions if there is a problem, providing good guidance and examples for teachers, play an important role in the progress of madrasah. 2) the principal's efforts in the implementation of teacher performance development include fostering time discipline, providing motivation and enthusiasm for work, providing rewards in the form of recreation, participating in training workshops / seminars, and supervising teacher performance. 3) the obstacles faced by the principal in its implementation, namely because the human resources of each teacher are different, one of which is age, accumulated tasks and differences in perceptions, and not all teachers are able to use laptops. 4) the solution made by the principal in overcoming obstacles, namely by giving examples directly, controlling teacher performance, forming work groups. bring in experienced coaches, and provide support.
