Abstract
Introduction: Anemia is still a very big problem and is usually experienced by young women. There are several types of anemia, one of which is megaloblastic anemia. This anemia is caused by a deficiency of folic acid and vitamin B12. Based on Preliminary research conducted at SMAN 1 Mojolaban, the results from data on hemoglobin level checks carried out in 2018 showed that the incidence of anemia at SMAN 1 Mojolaban was quite high (57.26%) when compared to the results of Riskesdas 2018 of 48.9%. Objective: The general objective of this study was to determine the correlation between intake of folic acid and vitamin B12 with Hb levels in adolescent girls at SMAN 1 Mojolaban. Research Methodology: This study was an observational study with a cross sectional study design. The number of samples were 40 female students of SMAN 1 Mojolaban taken by proportional random sampling. Interviews were conducted with 40 respondents using the semi quantitative FFQ for the last three months to find out the data on folic acid and vitamin B12 intake, then the hemoglobin level data were obtained from examining hemoglobin levels by the cyanmethemoglobin method conducted by health analysts in the Nutrition Science study program, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Research data processing was carried out using the Nutrisurvey application, then processed using the SPSS version 17 application. Results: The results of this study were the distribution of respondents based on folic acid intake which was in the low category of 60.0% and the sufficient category of 40.0%, while the distribution of respondents based on the intake of vitamin B12 which was in the low category was 50.0% and the sufficient category was 50, 0%. The average intake of folic acid and vitamin B12 of respondents is still lacking due to the respondents' lack of knowledge about some foods that have nutritional value such as folic acid and vitamin B12 which are very high. There is a relationship between folic acid intake and Hb levels with a value of p = 0.001 (<0.05). There is a relationship between vitamin B12 intake and Hb levels with a value of p = 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: There was a correlation between folic acid and vitamin B12 intake with Hb levels in adolescent girls at SMAN 1 Mojolaban.
