Abstract

Character education is education that must be developed and must be instilled in educational units. Character education is intended to develop abilities and shape the character and civilization of the nation with dignity in the context of developing the intellectual life of the nation. The Islamic boarding school uses the concept of five souls in instilling character education to its students. In this study, the problems taken were how the concept of the five souls of the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school in shaping the character education of the students of the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school in Surakarta, with the aim of being able to describe the concept of the five souls of the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school in shaping character education. Students. The type of research used in this research is the type of field research (field research), using a phenomenological approach, with inductive methods and the techniques used in testing the validity of the data are using triangulation techniques, namely by making observations, interviews, and also documentation from the literature or respondents. Pondok Pesantren Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta. The results of this study can be concluded that the concept of the five souls of the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school, namely: Sincerity, Awareness, Simplicity, Exemplary, Love, contained in some Indonesian character education including: hard work character education, religious character education, honest character education, disciplinary character education, independent character education, curiosity character education, creative character education, megharagai achievement character education, social caring character education, responsibility character education, democratic character education, environmental care character education, peace loving character education, friendly character education or communicative, and character education for tolerance. Five souls are the guidelines in the daily activities of the students of the Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta Islamic boarding school.
