Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the education sector. The learning process is not carried out in school or campus so learning, which is usually done face-to-face, is now done at home by distance learning. E-learning is a form of information technology that is applied to distance learning. The microbiology practicum at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta is currently being held at home as E-learning. In addition, the microbiogy lab media is easily contaminated so that it requires a sterile place, namely a laboratory in the implementation of the practicum. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of E-learning learning for Biology Education Study Program students, FKIP UMS on microbiology practicum during the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2019/2020 academic year. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. The method in this research is a closed questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the effectiveness of E-learning learning from students of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP UMS on microbiology practicum during the COVID-19 pandemic on indicators of effective learning transfer rates (74.82%), effective performance speed (67.11%), effective retention rates (62.92%) , and the accuracy of mastery of behavior is quite effective (57.97%). Overall, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of e-learning learning for Biology Education Study Program students, FKIP UMS on microbiology practicum during the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2019/2020 academic year is effective (65.71%).
